MEYER GUGGENHEIM INVESTS IN THE CHICAGO, ST. LOUIS AND PITTSBURGH RAILROAD. Document Endorsed ('Meyer Guggenheim') on the verso, granting him 100 shares in the Chicago, St. Louis and Pittsburgh Railroad Company, signed by Thoms D. Messler as Vice President of the entity, 1 p, 4to, New York, March 14, 1890, light creasing, float-mounted and framed. Provenance: Private Collection, Beverly Hills, California. Meyer Guggenheim, the patriarch of the Guggenheim family, made his fortune in mining and smelting in the mid- to late-19th century. Here he invests in the Chicago, St. Louis and Pittsburgh Rail Road Co., a merger of the Columbus, Chicago and Indiana Central RR and the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and St. Louis RR. Later in 1890, the company would evolve again into the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis RR. Lot to be sold without reserve.
