A Curta Type 1 Calculator, Liechtenstein, mid-20th century, No. 76434, the stepped gear-type pocket calculator engraved CURTA to the screw lid, the base reading System Curt Herzstark, Type I No. 76434 with central label, the calculator in original drum carrying case, together with a copy of Computing Examples for the Curta, the case 4 1/4in (110mm) high Footnotes: The Curta is a pocket-sized calculating machine, capable of a range of mathematical processes including adding and subtracting, multiplying and dividing, squares, cubes, and square roots. The multi-functional Type I model was marketed as 'precision built for absolute accuracy'. The efficacy of the Curta Type I calculator is demonstrated by the minimal design changes over the course of their production.
