Footnotes: Provenance Collection of Drs. Edmund and Julia Lewis Taikai Tairei studied under Ikeda Taishin (1825-1903), the renowned pupil of Shibata Zeshin and also under Akatsuka Jitoku (1871-1936) to whom his elder sister, Taikai Kei (1877-1946) was married.
