A pair of large mid 19th century French gilt bronze mounted Sèvres-style porcelain garniture urns Circa 1850 Each of ovoid form, the bodies with acanthus scrolling mounts to either side, and everted palmette and foliate scrolling rims, the upper sides with gadrooned and acanthus decoration, the pendent husk and foliate scrolled panelled supports on fluted dwarf column pedestals with fruiting garland mounts above laurel wreath bases raised on re-entrant cut corner footed plinths, the porcelain bodies painted to one side with ovals containing classical figural scenes, one depicting Mercury and Alceme holding the infant Hercules with various female attendants, the other Europa seated on the bull, below floating putti and flanked by female attendants and female putti, both within jewelled gilt borders on cobalt blue grounds enriched with acanthus scrolling floral, trellis and caillouté decoration, the reverse of each with the crowned monogram for Louis Philippe I of France in gilt (no lacking covers), 86.5cm high, 41cm wide, 32cm deep (2) (2) This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: TP TP For auctions held in Scotland: Lots will be moved to an offsite storage location (Constantine, Constantine House, North Caldeen Road, Coatbridge ML5 4EF, Scotland, UK) and will only be available for collection from this location at the date stated in the catalogue.
