Engraved title with portraits of Bartholin and famous medical authors, 8 engraved plates, all but one folding, and numerous text illustrations after Vesalius, Casserio, and others. Contemporary vellum, edges blue. First revised edition 'included the first depiction of the fissure of Sylvius, the lateral cerebral fissure, and the only part of the cerebral hemispheres to be given a name between 1641 and the 19th century' (GM). Garrison-Morton-Norman 1377.3.
