Modern half calf over marbled boards, spine in 6 compartments, two of which are lettered in gilt and the others with gilt animal ornaments. Some light spots, offset from plates, spines sunned, a few stray stains. Provenance: Arthur Haddaway (bookplate); L.W. Jordan Jr. (bookplates). FIRST STOCKDALE EDITION, printed by T. Bensley. The plates are by thirty different engravers (and four unsigned plates): Landseer, J. Chapman, Bell, Eastgate, Bromley, Skelton, Audinet, Martin, Barrett, and others. Bentley mentions that the work was advertised at the end of the second volume of Gay's 1793 Fables as containing William Blake engravings, however there are no signed Blake plates.
