FIVE LITTLE PIGS INSCRIBED TO THE BOOK'S DEDICATEE. CHRISTIE, AGATHA. 1890-1976. Five Little Pigs. London: Published for the Crime Club by Collins, 1942. 8vo. Original red cloth, spine lettered in black, dust jacket. Dustsoiling to upper edge, spine creased with wear to head and tail; jacket with light spotting and thumbsoiling. Housed in custom orange morocco slipcase with chemise. Provenance: The Collection of Richard Manney. FIRST EDITION, SIGNED AND INSCRIBED on the front free endpaper: 'Stephen / from / Agatha / Jan. 1943.' Stephen Glanville, the dedicatee of the novel, was a friend and colleague of Christie's husband Max Mallowan. WITH: A TLS of Robert Frew, March 13, 1987, to Peter Stern, confirming that the present copy of Five Little Pigs is inscribed to Stephen Glanville, Frew having purchased the copy from a family member. Five Little Pigs was published in the US as Murder in Retrospect. Hercule Poirot is asked by a young woman to re-investigate the murder of her father by her mother. Not surprisingly, Poirot realizes there are five other equally compelling suspects.
