MARX'S MASTERPIECE, COMPLETE, including the THIRD EDITION, OR FIRST ENGELS EDITION, OF VOLUME 1, AND THE FIRST EDITIONS OF VOLUMES 2 & 3, AS EDITED BY ENGELS FROM MARX'S NOTES. With Marx's death in 1883, Frederick Engels saw through the publication of the third edition of volume 1, adding a preface and mentioning the pending publication of the second volume. During the next decade Engels produced both the second and third volumes as envisioned by Marx, working from Marx's compiled notes. Engels' efforts in promoting the work and Marxism throughout this pivotal decade had a profound effect on the dissemination of Marxist thought, especially as a founding document of the international socialist movement which emerged in Paris in 1889 with the Second International.
