FRENCH SCHOOL, EARLY 19TH CENTURY PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG BOY inscribed 'Edmond Cartenson / 1815-1898' on a fragmentary label affixed to the reverse of the frame; with a fragmentary label from A. Souty, Paris, and a label from Les Anges Antiques, Naples, Florida affixed to the reverse of the frame. Oil on canvas, framed. 16 1/8' x 1q2 5/8' sight size, 19 11/16' x 16 1/8' frame size. Footnotes: OVERALL CONDITION: Good. The canvas has been lined. Under UV examination, there is retouch throughout, including on and below the boy's collar, throughout the boy's hair, on the boy's nose and chin, and smaller dots in the background. There is a small, repaired tear in the canvas, approx. 3.0 cm., to the lower left of the boy's chin. There are scattered small dark surface accretions.
