Limoges Silver Gilt and Enamel Anniversary Casket, the silver mounts by Carl Krall for Barkentin & Krall, London, 1894, the enamel panels by Alexander Fisher; rectangular form, the translucent blue enamel front painted en grisaille with a wreath enclosing profile portraits of William and Maria Tipping, the recipients, supported by tinted cherubs tugging at a length of ribbon, the ends similarly painted with putti holding labels gilt with the initials 'EGE' and 'AKL' for Elizabeth G. Evans and Agnes K. Landale, the donors, against grounds festooned with fruit, ht. 4, wd. 5 3/4, dp. 3 3/4 in. Footnotes: William Tipping, only child of John Tipping of Liverpool, merchant, was born in 1816. He became a director of the London and North Western Railway Company and was M.P. for Stockport from 1868 to 1874 and again during 1885-1886. He died at his residence, Brasted Park, Sevenoaks, Kent, on 16th January, 1897, survived by his relict, Maria.
