Ten Revolutionary War Receipts/Pay Orders, 1776-89. Hartford, Connecticut, May 6, 1776, receipt for eight barrels of flower received by Ambrose Nicholson for Captain Jeremiah Wadsworth. Hartford, Connecticut, June 5, 1776, order to pay Jessee Cook eighty-nine pounds, one shilling, five pence for the premium on 165 pounds of saltpeter and purchase of 379 pounds of saltpeter. [Connecticut], February 10, 1777, order to pay Captain Timothy Cheney six pounds, thirteen shillings, two pence for the wages of the men of his company. [Connecticut], February 24, 1777, order to pay Josiah Olcott seventeen pounds, thirteen shillings, three and a half pence for the purchase of 71 1/4 pounds of saltpeter. [Connecticut], April 6, 1780, order to pay Colonel Stephen St. John 468 pounds, two shillings. [Connecticut], June 6, 1780, order to pay the Ashford Committed of Supplies 700 pounds. Hartford, Connecticut, July 4, 1780, receipt for 210 pounds to pay for the bounties of men enlisted to serve in the Continental Army form Colonel Roger Newberry's First Regiment of Militia. [Connecticut], February 13, 1782, order to pay Joseph Parker seven pounds, seven shillings, ten pence for supplies furnished to the Continental Army. Hartford, Connecticut, August 19, 1783, order to pay R. Pomeroy one pound, thirteen shillings, four pence. Hartford, Connecticut, printed and cancelled receipt for twelve pounds, ten shillings paid to unknown recipient signed by Jedediah Huntington.
