A Charles Feldman Collection of Publicity Clippings Pertaining to Marilyn Monroe and The Seven Year Itch 20th Century Fox, 1955. Comprising a tan-and-brown 8.5 x 11 in. bradded folder titled, 'Chas. K. Feldman Group Productions,' with '17A / SEVEN YEAR ITCH - PUBLICITY' typed to spine, containing newspaper clippings pertaining to Marilyn Monroe's appearance as the star in The Seven Year Itch (1955), particularly her location shooting in New York where she waved from a window and stood on the stoop chatting with fans. Charles Feldman was the producer of The Seven Year Itch as well as Monroe's Hollywood agent. He had a vested interest in all parts of the production and was hopeful that it would be as successful as his 1951 producing venture with Vivien Leigh, A Streetcar Named Desire. Monroe starring in the film was in itself big news; add to this her recent marriage with baseball great Joe DiMaggio (which would crumble during filming), the on-location shooting in New York of the skirt-blowing scene in the film, and the 52-foot likeness of Monroe which would appear in Times Square, and you have a publicity extravaganza that would have likely made up for any weaknesses in the film. Fortunately, the film was beloved and became not only a mammoth box office success but was the birth of Monroe's legacy as a Hollywood icon. 9 x 11.5 in.
