A Measure for Measure 'Shakespeare in the Park' Poster Featuring Meryl Streep Delacorte Theater Central Park, 1976. Artwork by Paul Davis. Original advertising poster for the landmark production of Measure for Measure presented as part of the 1976, 20th Season 'Shakespeare in the Park' offerings. The 29 x 45 in. poster is folded as issued and exhibits age, handling, wrinkling, and some rubbing to folds. The legendary production starred yet-to-be household names including Meryl Streep as Isabella, Sam Waterson as Vincentio, Lenny Baker as Lucio, Jeffrey Tambor as Elbow, John Cazale as Angelo, and many others. During production of this historic play, Streep and Cazale, the better known actor at that time, fell in love. 'He wasn't like anybody I'd ever met,' she once said of him. Unfortunately, Cazale was later diagnosed with lung cancer and died in 1978. He was never able to see Streep's amazing trajectory as one of the greatest actresses in the history of Hollywood, but she always considered him the love of her life. 29 x 45 in.
