A Rudolph Valentino Group of Photos from Monsieur Beaucaire Paramount Pictures, 1924. A group of gelatin silver photos including an 11 x 14 in. of Valentino and Bebe Daniels; four 8 x 10 in. photos (including an incredible photo of Valentino, wife Natacha Rambova, and director Sidney Olcott with several costumed cast members at adjacent tables at the studio commissary); and a 5 x 5 in. trimmed photo of Valentino with Rambova and Olcott. Two of the photos are attached to scrapbook backing, and the rest have minor scrapbook residue on the verso. Rudolph Valentino had been on a hiatus from films because of contractual difficulties, and Booth Tarkington's Monsieur Beaucaire was to represent his comeback. With his wife Natacha Rambova as art director and costume designer, Valentino appeared in a powdered wig and breeches for his role as a duke who masquerades as a barber. The film also featured Bebe Daniels, Lois Wilson, and Lowell Sherman. These photos are from the Harry Fischbeck Estate; Fischbeck was the cinematographer on Monsieur Beaucaire, and he was also the cinematographer on Valentino's penultimate film, Cobra (1925). Largest: 11 x 14 in. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
