Hemispherical bowl on straight foot, which together with interior edge is penciled en grisaille with trellis-patterned band, the well retaining vestiges of a central floral spray motif, another arrangement with peonies appearing on opposite sides of the exterior wall, alternating with two Scottish heraldic achievements of MOWAT, the shield bearing arms, Argent a lion rampant sable langued and armed gules, the bottom framed by a banner inscribed 'Commit thy work to God' and supported at sides by two wild men figures carrying tridents, all surmounted by mantling and simplified version of the crest, The battlements of a castle or, issuant therefrom a demi warrior armed proper... beneath an arched banner inscribed 'Monte alto' (From a high hill), diam. 13 1/8, ht. 5 3/8 in.
