A GROUP OF THREE KŌGŌ (INCENSE CONTAINERS) Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926-1989) era, 20th century Comprising a lacquer kōgō formed as a chestnut, the interior gold leaf, with a wood box inscribed Kuri kōgō (Chestnut incense container), signed and sealed Kizan; A black and gold lacquer kōgō formed as an eggplant, the interior black lacquer sprinkled with hirame, with a tomoginu cloth signed Akikazu saku and with the artist's kaō, and a wood tomobako storage box inscribed Nasu kōgō (Eggplant incense container) signed and sealed Hōsai; A circular, shallow wood kōgō decorated with a cricket in black takamaki-e, with a wood tomobako storage box 2in (5.1cm) wide; 2 3/4in (6.9cm) wide; 2 1/4in ((6.9cm) diameter (3).
