A GROUP OF THREE WOVEN TONKOTSU (BOXES FOR TOBACCO) Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926-1989) era, 20th century Comprising a woven rattan tonkotsu in compressed ovoid form with copper cord rings, with a hardstone bead ojime and a bamboo match case-form netsuke fitted with a stag-antler hinged lid; A woven bamboo tonkotsu of horizontal plaiting over vertical strips, the rim banded with twisted and wrapped rattan, the rear surface applied with a leather cover and a leather strip for suspension, the wood cover decorated with an eggplant and leafy beans in inlays of pewter, shell and carved lacquer, with the seal of the artist, with a pierced silver ojime; A single-case woven bamboo pouch worked in diagonal plaiting in the form of an armor storage box, the pouch clasp formed as the character mae (front), the interior lined with brocade, with a matching ojime and a netsuke in the form of a clam 4 5/8in (11.7cm) high, the largest (3).
