Nolting served as the Associate Dean and Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons. She was instrumental in establishing the Wu Family China Center for Health Initiatives, a collaborative venture between Columbia University and various medical institutions in China. Dr. Nolting maintained close relationships with Hong Kong entrepreneur Gordon Wu Ying-sheung and his wife Ivy Wu Kwok Sau-ping. The two robes in the present lot had been in Dr. Nolting's possession in her Upper West Side, Manhattan, apartment for over twenty years.
