A MOTHER-OF-PEARL-INLAID LACQUER CABINET 17th/18th century 71 1/4 x 48 x 20 1/2in (181 x 122 x 52cm) Footnotes: This cabinet exemplifies the accomplished craftsmanship of mother-of-pearl inlay on lacquer, a technique commonly seen in Chinese furniture from the Ming dynasty and onwards. A similar style of mother-of-pearl inlay to the present lot is seen on a Ming dynasty inlaid black lacquered bed illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Furniture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties (I), Hong Kong, 2002, pp 10-11, no. 3. A pair mother-of-pearl-inlaid lacquer cabinets of very similar design to the present lot, variously attributed to the Ming or early Qing dynasty, sold first in our San Francisco rooms, 17 December 2018, lot 253, and later at Christie's, Paris, 9 June 2021, lot 132.
