He graduated from the Central Institute of Arts and Crafts (the current Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University) in 1992. Since 1994, he has made Songzhuang his artistic haven. His works have been exhibited globally in Singapore, Paris, and Taiwan. His work deftly intertwines the essence of traditional Chinese painting with the modern context and sometimes Western painting media. Personified birds and otherworldly landscapes take center stage in his works, demonstrating the connection of his artistic conception with the legacy of ancient masters such as Bada Shanren (1626-1705), Ni Zan (1301-1374) and Mi Fu (1051-1107).
