A late Regency rosewood and brass inlaid bracket clock Circa 1830 The case with gadrooned top (finial lacking) over floral ring side handles, fish scale side frets and a brass-inlaid moulded base on gadrooned bun feet, the 8 inch circular painted Roman dial with blued steel (non-matching) hands, twin gut (now wire) fusee movement with anchor escapement rack striking on a bell, with geometric engraved border, 21cm wide x 21cm deep x 47cm high (12in wide x 8in deep x 18 1/2in high Footnotes: Illustrated The World of Interiors, London, April 2019, p.219. The case interior carries a most interesting printed label for 'George. G. Cocks, Camp Writing Desk Manufacturer....Bristol.' The label lists just some of the goods and services that Cocks offered including 'every description of clocks and spring cases, Ladies and Gentlemen's Dressing & travelling cases, Beer engine cases, tea chests and caddies, drawing boxes, glass bender, funerals furnished etc' and notes that both 'Merchants and Captains (were) supplied.'
