This work is number four from the edition of ten. Footnotes: Provenance Courtesy of the artist Artist statement: Terrick Gutierrez began creating work about the built environment to better understand how the space around us influences us and vice versa. In his recent work on public housing projects and liquor stores, he uses a mixed media approach to create paintings. Gutierrez uses paper towels and non-traditional materials because at one point he couldn't afford anything else. Since then, these materials have been integral in his practice and are about reclaiming value to subjects and materials that are often discarded.
