CLOVIS SCHLUMBERGER (20th/21st Century) Big Shoes, 2024 signed with the artist's initials (right edge) oil on Mylar paper mounted on wood 30 x 30 in. 76.2 x 76.2 cm. Footnotes: Provenance Courtesy of the artist and Yiwei Gallery, Venice, CA Artist statement: Franco-American, Clovis Schlumberger grew up in Los Angeles/California, drawing every day and animating small 3D characters in stop motion. When he returned to France, Clovis was admitted in the French school Ecole des Beaux Arts of Paris, where he experimented with figuration and composition, surrounded by the ghosts of the magnificent Masters of the past. Paint is his primary medium, for its physicality and the deep sense of heritage it conveys.
