DAVID EDDINGTON (B. 1943) House Boat, 2022 signed, titled and dated (on the reverse) acrylic on stainless steel 23 x 23 in. 58.4 x 58.4 cm. Footnotes: Provenance Courtesy of the artist 'For when I paint I look for the reality of the work, removing my thought from everything other than the nature of the work itself, a contained research. Although the subconscious resulting work bears reference to art historical they are far from objects of science, or solely political, or as the galleryists looks to the market; Since the creation of a painting today is almost by definition multi-faceted, I accept that these phonemes happen, though I am not concerned for these considerations when I make work. So where does my work belong? When I paint, it belongs within its-self, a unique area that as I paint the resulting image leads me further along. I am interested in what makes a collection of objects or a painting a work of art, as relating to that element that makes a simple surface or object become more than the material from which it is constructed and presented, where the most important element of the work, isn't the 'thing' at all, but where it takes you, a search for the truth in 'being'.' -David Eddington For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
