Her painterly papercuts, cut with an x-acto knife and layered handmade colored papers made in countries where she has traveled, connect her to this extensive cultural heritage. Bubar captures the magic and mysteries of diverse natural environments, such as in the many National Parks where she has been the Artist in Residence. She also creates work about current urban landscapes, illustrating the dramatic disparity in cities, including homelessness, overdevelopment, and traffic. Bubar's work brings attention to threatened places and species and illustrate the hierarchy within our cities and our wilderness.
