Footnotes: Provenance Courtesy of the artist Artist statement: Dylan Mortimer creates work out of lived experience with chronic illness and two double lung transplants. He transforms symbols that have been traumatic or difficult, highlighting the paradox of the very elements that helped keep him alive: scars, pills, bronchial trees, IV poles, surgery rooms, etc. He employs shiny materials in collage, mixed media painting, and installation, as a way of creating Baroque transformations of his situations.
