Footnotes: Provenance Courtesy of the artist Exhibited Kingston, NY, Headstone Gallery, Tongue and Groove: Erik Frydenborg and Mykola Haleta, 3-25 September 2022 Artist statement: Erik Frydenborg's work embodies manipulated found images as three-dimensional objects. His hand carved, painted basswood sculptures are painstaking physical renditions of old, printed infographics that he has digitally scanned and deformed. Frydenborg uses mechanically cut stencils to apply those warped didactics onto the surfaces of his sculptures. His works instill a sense of disorientation through their combinations of the familiar and the alien, the antiquated and the futuristic.
