c.1972 BMW 999cc R75/5 'Pink Pig' Racing Motorcycle by Bracken Motorcycle Workshop Registration no. not registered Frame no. 6097220 Engine no. unable to locate Built by Bracken Motorcycle Workshop, the vendor advises us that this R75/5 boasts an extensively modified standard frame with raised engine mounts for increased ground clearance; a triangulated reinforced top mount added; and offset side brace bars. The engine is an electric-start R75/5 with a capacity of 999cc. Other notable features include the following: •Braced long-wheelbase swinging arm •Hagon rear shock absorbers •Shock absorber-type driveshaft modified to compensate for lifted engine •31/11 differential from BMW race shop (ex-Gus Kuhn) •Ducati 750 forks modified by Maxton •Ducati 750 front brake calipers •Front hub with Ducati spindle •Larger front wheel rim •Rear wheel offset and spoked to take larger rim and tyre •Bartel aluminium fuel tank •One-off engine oil breather tank •Peckett & McNab seat and tail unit •Rask rear-sets •One-off battery tray •MHP 2-into-2 stainless exhaust system •One-off racing wiring loom Enlarged to 999cc capacity, the engine boasts coated cylinders and an 11.0:1 compression ratio, and produces 102bhp at the rear wheel (dynamometer sheets supplied). The cylinder heads have been extensively modified with downdraught inlet ports, 47mm inlet valves, 40mm exhaust valves, and twin-plug ignition with 10mm spark plugs. Other specification details worthy of note include the following: •Modified crankcase, shortened oil pump feed machined to take a Serck oil cooler •Extra-deep sump •Kaiser full-race camshaft •Crankshaft, con-rods, flywheel and clutch matched and balanced •BMW K75 pressure plate •Dell'Orto 42mm carburettors bored out and accelerator pumps removed •Matched bell mouths •Gearbox shell strengthened •Gearbox shafts modified •All gearbox bearings high grade C3 This BMW was raced by Duncan Watson at the Manx Grand Prix (finisher); by Roger Marchant for two seasons at CRMC, BEMSEE, and BEARS Rounds; and by Torquil Ross-Martin (runner up in the CRMC Unlimited Class). Buyers Premium and Charges


Like the vast majority of auctioneers, Bonhams charge a Buyer's Premium on the Hammer Price of each Lot purchased and this is subject to VAT. Some lots may also be subject to VAT on the Hammer Price and these lots will be clearly marked with a symbol (†, Ω, *) printed beside the lot number.

For Motorcycles (Lots 1-63) the Buyer's Premium will be 15% on the first £500,000 of the Hammer Price of each Lot, and 12% on the balance thereafter.

For Memorabilia/Automobilia and Spares (Lots 101-221) the Buyer's Premium is 28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price; 27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,001 up to and including £800,000; 21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,001 up to and including £4,500,000 and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,001.

VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated.
