Property of a deceased's estate 1947 Velocette 350cc MAC Trials Motorcycle Registration no. HOB 131 Frame no. 3308 Engine no. MAC 1096 In 1933 Veloce Limited augmented its established range of overhead-camshaft models with an overhead-valve 250 - the MOV. The newcomer's power unit was a 'high camshaft' design with enclosed valves, and the compact and sprightly machine featured a four-speed gearbox equipped with the company's new foot-change mechanism. The following year an overhead-valve 350 built along MOV lines appeared. This was the long-stroke MAC, which was subsequently bored out to create the 500cc MSS. Post-war, the trio of overhead-valve Velocettes continued much as before, with rigid frames and - initially - Webb girder forks. The MAC gained an alloy cylinder barrel and 'head for 1951, as well as Velocette's own telescopic front fork in place of the previous Dowty, and was further updated with a swinging-arm frame in 1953. The MAC was last produced in 1960. Its accompanying continuation buff logbooks show that this MAC was resident in Nottingham in 1957, registered to a Mr K Bull. It remained in Bingham, Nottinghamshire until being sold to a Mr Nash of Buxton and in 1996 was acquired by the vendor's late husband. Additional paperwork consists of V5 and V5C documents (it should be noted that the V5C records the engine number as '10117'). Not used for some time, the machine will require recommissioning or possibly more extensive restoration and thus is sold strictly as viewed (the engine turns over). Key not required Footnotes: All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
