An impressive incised twist ceremonial goblet, circa 1750-60 The generous round funnel bowl with fine honeycomb moulding to the lower part, on a heavy incised-twist stem and conical foot, 23.7cm high Footnotes: Provenance Property of a Gentleman A pair of identical goblets formerly in the James Hall Collection was sold by Bonhams on 17 December 2008, lot 125 and again on 17 May 2017, lot 32. An identical example, perhaps the present goblet, from the John Carson collection was sold by Phillips on 6 June 2001, lot 38. Carson suggested the moulding in the bowl was designed to hide any sediment in the wine.
