A rare Bohemian engraved double-goblet and cover, circa 1690-1700 The generous rounded bucket bowl engraved with two oval line panels, one with stylised chinoiserie buildings and the other with a stag leaping among stylised shrubs and trees, flanked by stylised foliage, all between formal husk bands, set on a multi-knopped stem with a central solid knop flanked by mereses, on a circular foot subtly faceted at the edge, the high domed cover with a multi-knopped finial supporting a smaller rounded bucket bowl similarly engraved with buildings, flowers and vine, 32cm high (2) Footnotes: A very similar goblet and cover with comparable engraved decoration is in the Passauer Glasmuseum, illustrated by Gorg Höltl, Das Böhmische Glas 1700-1950, Vol.l (1995), p.45, no.I.3, where the use of these double goblets at weddings is discussed.
