Schröder' (lower left); identified on a presentation plaque oil on canvas 80.5 x 109.0 cm (31 11/16 x 42 15/16 in). framed 115.5 x 143.5 x 12.0 cm (45 1/2 x 56 1/2 x 4 3/4 in). Footnotes: Provenance A Newport, Rhode Island, estate. N.B. Schröder spend most of his life working in Münich and Dresden, often focusing his paintings on elaborate interiors featuring multiple figures. The theme of the bird seller continued appeal to European artists over several centuries. A close copy of the scene at hand was painted by Carl Becker, a Berlin artist.
