Amorsolo / MANILA 1926' (lower left) oil on canvas 86.4 x 61.0 cm (34 x 24 in). framed 102.3 x 76.8 x 4.4 cm (40 1/4 x 30 1/4 x 1 3/4 in). Footnotes: Provenance Purchased from the artist in Manila. A private collection, Massachusetts (by descent). N.B. Renowned Filipino artist, Fernando Amorsolo, captured a utopic vision of the rural Philippines, celebrating the beauty of the country and its people. In this remarkable early work, Amorsolo presents his idealized version of a Filipina woman with a bountiful harvest of mangoes. Based on digital images only, it is the opinion of Sylvia Amorsolo Lazo and Fernando A. Lazo that the painting 'Maiden with Fruit' is an authentic work of Fernando C. Amorsolo.
