Largest: 8.7 cm high, 9.5 cm diameter Each impressed with artist's seal, incised and painted numbers to underside, and inscribed MAUFE. Footnotes: Provenance Lady Maufe, wife of the architect Sir Edward Maufe, was a Director of Heal & Son, and for many years in charge of the Mansard Gallery on the fourth floor at Heal's. Prudence Maufe met artists and artisan potters there during the 1920s and 1930s, and collected pots made by those she admired such as Bernard Leach, Katherine Pleydell-Bouverie and William Staite Murray.
