Provenance: 'Mr. Selwood' (neat signature to upper corner of paste-down) FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING, OF THE BOOK THAT GAVE LIFE TO THE BELOVED WIZARD OF HOGWARTS, produced in a small edition of 500 copies, mostly intended for libraries. Based on a strong recommendation from his 8-year old daughter, Nigel Newton secured Rowling's manuscript for Bloomsbury with a £2,500 advance. The book has now sold more than 120 million copies, and more importantly created a cultural phenomenon that continues today.
