Publisher's printed paper boards, with newsprint collage printed in red, and titles overprinted in black, custom morocco backed folding case. Endpapers discolored as usual, paperclip indentation at head of dedication page, touch of wear at spine ends, but a fine copy. Provenance: Jack Hemingway (ownership signature to first blank); Charlton Heston (his sale, Bonhams, Los Angeles, March 22, 2016, lot 145). LIMITED FIRST EDITION OF HEMINGWAY'S SECOND BOOK, HEMINGWAY FAMILY COPY, FROM THE LIBRARY OF CHARLTON HESTON, with the ownership signature of Hemingway's eldest son Jack Hemingway (1932-2000), number 132 of 170 copies printed on Rives hand-made paper. 'In the dry compressed little vignettes of In Our Time [sic], [Hemingway] has almost invented a form of his own....' (Edward Wilson, 'Mr. Hemingway's Dry-points,' The Dial, October, 1924). According to Heston's son Fraser Heston, Heston believed that Hemingway was the greatest American writer of the 20th century. Hanneman A2a; Connolly Modern Movement 49.
