WORLD WAR II AVIATOR'S MEMORABILIA. Group of items belonging to Joseph W. McFarland, including: 1. 2 silk folding maps, one of Holland, Belgium, France and Germany , and one of SLovakia, Poland and Hungary. Undated, with fabric carrying pouch stamped 'C/D-E\F MAPS ONLY.' Fine condition, carrying pouch soiled. 2. Card wallet, containing numerous identification and other cards, including McFarland's Instrument Flight Test qualification cards, Medical Treatment card, Department of Commerce commercial pilot's card, membership cards in fraternal organizations, and a leather uniform name tag stamped in silver with pilot's wing logo and McFarland's name. 3. McFarland's Air Medal, World War II issue with wrap brooch, unnamed, in black leatherette case of issue, toegether with a clipping of General Order No. 309 awarding McFarland the medal for bombing missions over Europe with the 863rd Bombardment Squadron, 493rd Bombardment Group, dated July 20, 1944. 4. A group of related uniform insignia, including a miniature medal bar with the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal, and World War II campaign medals; A ribbon bar including the above awards, stitched to a swatch of dark blue wool fabric; Pilot's Wing, pinback, marked 'Sterling,' without maker's mark; Army rank insignia for Captain, Major and Lt. Colonel ranks; miscellaneous buttons and sweetheart jewelry, and an empty black leatherette case for the Distinguished Flying Cross (medal not present). 5. Passports for Joseph McFarland and his wife Mary Jane, issued in 1946. Lot to be sold without reserve.
