Lacking map, two leaves detached and laid in, ownership inscription on title effaced, binding worn. FIRST EDITIONS. The first title includes the important folding map, Carte de la Coste de la Louisiane depuis l'embouchure de la Riviere de Micissipi jusques à la Riviere de S. Martin, and the Plan de Pansacola. Laval gives an account of the battles of Pensacola the previous year. The second, though lacking its map, remains an 'important document of the East Texas region' (Streeter sale 112, English ed). Joutel accompanied La Salle's expedition and after the captain's assassination he continued across Texas to the Red River, thence to the Arkansas and up the Mississippi to Fort St. Louis. Lot to be sold without reserve.
