Mimeographed Manuscript, 'Rio Rita,' 129 pp, 4to, Culver City, CA, October 20, 1941, bound with brads and housed in typed MGM wrappers with printed label, stamped 'temporary incomplete' and marked 'save for legal dept,' some toning to leaves, mild chipping to wrapper edges, toning to covers. Rio Rita is a 1942 Abbott and Costello movie set in Mexico in which the comic duo fight Nazi spies. This is a legal department copy in which names/references have been cleared. Gladys Lehman (1892-1993) came to Hollywood in 1925 after a divorce, starting out as a head reader at Universal. Soon she was writing scenarios and adapting scripts, and by the 1930s, was leading several high-profile projects, including the adaptation of Preston Sturges' Strictly Dishonorable (1931), and Fannie Hurst's Back Street (1932) as well as several films starring Shirley Temple including Little Miss Marker (1934) and Poor Little Rich Girl (1936).
