Impressive Walnut Cased Cylinder Music Box on Stand, 19th century, rectangular top with carved figure of a man and horse set atop a paneled case with applied foliage and instruments, a long drawer below, set on a rectangular stand with long drawer and cabriole legs terminating at paw feet, with eight cylinders and assorted tune cards, overall ht. 57, lg. 45 1/2, d. 22 1/4 in. Footnotes: Provenance: New England Industrialist Lucius Bowles Darling (1827 – 1896) was a successful businessman and politician, including his appointment as Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island (1885-1887), member of the Rhode Island State Board of Education, and owner of the Pawtucket, Rhode Island Music Hall Building.
