Tourmaline Crystal Stewart Mine, Tourmaline Queen Mountain, Pala, Pala Mining District, San Diego County, California, USA Few pieces of the Tourmaline from the historic Stewart mine appear on the market. A pleasing pink color accented with a clear to light green cap with a splash of lilac. Specimens in this size and condition from this mine are well-collected and rarely seen due to the high desirability of this historic locale/species combination. Tourmalines from the region of San Diego in general have a long history from the turn of the 1900s. The boom of the gem pegmatite districts in San Diego County in part led to the development and population growth of surrounding areas in Southern California. The fact that this specimen hails from a less seen locale in comparison to other workings makes it an even greater collectable with a rich mining provenance. Measuring approximately 5.3 x 2.5 x 2.2 cm Footnotes: ex. Artem Kovalev Collection Accompanied by a label For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
