Titanite and Chalcopyrite on Tetrahedrite on Acrylic Base Felber Valley, Mittersill, Zell am See District (Pinzgau), Salzburg, Austria.Not only is does this specimen feature a classic Alpine cleft species from a classic locality, it is from the famous Barlow collection, with a label signed by F. John Barlow. The lustrous, clean, apple-green wedge-shaped crystal is perched on gneiss typical of the locality. Chalcopyrite on Tetrahedrite on Acrylic Base, with a label Julcani Mine, Julcani District, Angaraes Province, Huancavelica, Peru. This fine miniature features a dominant, lustrous tetrahedrite crystal with smaller sidecar crystals, all of which have epitactic chalcopyrite crystals attached. Epitaxy occurs when one species grows atop another such that the crystal structure of the first species is continuous with that of the substrate crystal. This lead to the epitactic crystals being aligned with one another.
