The inscription on the reverse of the painting of the three-masted ship reads: In Memoriam / A stately bark sailed out to sea, / On a golden day for a distance shore; / And the sun-blest waves sang sweet to me, / 'Adieu thou lone loving one', o'er and o'er. / And the emerald isles of the shining bay / Sparkled and smiled as the white sails passed / Shall I live in thy memory when far away, / Like the ocean bark I am gone at last? / ---- Fred.
