A RARE 18K GOLD AUTOMTIC TRIPLE CALENDAR WRISTWATCH WITH MOON PHASE Model: 6062 Reference: Oyster Perpetual Date: c. 1953 Movement: Jeweled automatic, No. 52129, 00045 Dial: Silvered, gilt star and triangular hour markers, black outer minute markers, further blue outer ring for date, subsidiary dial at 6 for constant seconds and moon phases aperture, day and month aperture at 12, luminous filled gilt dauphine hands, steel center arrow tipped date hand, re-done dial Case: Tonneau form, screw down case back, No. 916305 Strap/Bracelet: Brown leather Buckle/Clasp: 18k gold buckle, signed Signed: Case, dial, and movement Size: 35mm Accompaniments: Maker's presentation box Footnotes: Rolex released reference 6062 at Baselword in 1950, and at the time, it was the first automatic triple moonphase watch in a waterproof case made (the other being reference 8171). There were many dial variations in the later models, but only very few examples were made in either yellow or pink gold. The star dial or 'Stelline' was among the first batch made in the series, stands out as the rarest and most coveted. This 'Stelline' example, preserved with a restored dial, features all the beautifully harmonizing elements of the finest reference 6062. The case displays a crisp and clearly readable reference and serial number between the lugs, with the original Super Oyster crown intact. This timepiece is absolutely exceptional and is rare to see comparable example emerging on the market today.
