(Late Harris) and Edinburgh, W. & A.K. Johnston, 1859 Footnotes: A FINE CLEAN COPY OF KNIPE'S STRIKING AND IMPORTANT GEOLOGICAL MAP. The map was first published in 1843 and went through various issues before a second edition was published in 1851. This was also reissued at intervals as fresh data was collected from fieldwork and became available. Our 1859 edition has a printed list of illustrious 'authorities consulted', notably Smith, Greenough, Lyell, Mantell and Murchison, with a brief postscript dated 1857.
