Bennett, Mathematical Instrument-makers, and by the Author, 1758 Footnotes: Scarce edition of Euclid illustrated with 42 plates designed to be folded into three-dimensional pop-up figures, the accompanying text containing step-by-step instructions for folding the figures. This copy, annotated with mathematical calculations, and with the plates carefully cut shows how the an early reader engaged with the volume. John Lodge Cowley (1719-1797) was for some years professor of mathematics at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, and a Fellow of the Royal Society in London.
