A George III Irish provincial silver nutmeg grater Mathew Walsh, Limerick 1784 Oval shaped, the whole plain polished, a cover to both top and bottom attached by a pair of standaway hinges, the upper with inscribed monogram in script 'SMcD', opening to reveal a fixed grater, the bottom pulling down to contain the nutmeg, height 2.5cm, length 3.5cm. Footnotes: Property of a Private Collector Saleroom notices: Only marked twice with the maker's mark, should read circa 1784. Not fully hallmarked.
