PETIT LAPIN EN JADE CÉLADON ET ROUILLE Fin de la Dynastie Qing (1644-1911) A SMALL CELADON JADE FIGURE OF A HARE Late Qing Dynasty Seated on his hind legs, head leaning forward with ears laid back against the head, the eyes inlaid with red glass, the stone a pale celadon tone with russet patches. 6.5cm (2 1/2in) high. Footnotes: 清晚期 青白玉兔把件 Provenance: Property of a gentleman 來源： 紳士珍藏 The eyes inlaid with red glass show the influence of Mughal jades which arrived at the Qing court in the 18th century as tributes. See a small jade carving of a hare similarly embellished with ruby eyes in the Palace Museum collection, illustrated in Zhongguo yuqi quanji, vol.6, Qing, Shijiazhuang, 1991, no.271.
