1960 Norton 596cc Dominator 99 Registration no. YUW 435 Frame no. 14-86609 Engine no. 86609-14R In 1955 Norton updated their '88' (500cc) Dominator by boring and stroking the engine to produce the '99' (600cc) version seen here. By 1960, the 99 had received the 'Slimline' Featherbed frame with oil damped Roadholder forks, Girling shocks and full width hubs offering improved braking. With its increased compression and impressive handling, the 99 offered viable competition to the popular Triumph 650s of the time, and was a good seller for the Norton brand, running until 1962. Last taxed for the road in 1999, the machine features good black over white paintwork. 51,307 miles are recorded to the odometer, but not warranted. First registered February 1960 and owned by the vendor since 1993. The motorcycle is registered as a Historic Vehicle and will require recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent. Please note the machine is not offered with a V5C and the successful purchaser is responsible for applying for a replacement. Footnotes: All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
