Pair of Herter Brothers Aesthetic Movement Side Chairs, New York, c. 1875, ebonized cherry, wood inlays, incised gilding, 1870s English silk upholstery, stamped number '5038' and interior seat rails signed 'Mr. Harriman' in pencil, ht. 34 1/2, seat ht. 18 1/2, wd. 17 1/4, dp. 21 in. Footnotes: Provenance: Purchased from Margot Johnson in 1997. A copy of the invoice accompanies the lot. Note: The Cooper Hewitt has a similar chair in its collection, identified as the Mark Hopkins House Side Chair.
